Milk glass became widely manufactured in the USA in 1835 and remained popular here until the 1980s. Eventually, milk glass production ceased in America and the mugs that used to fill your parents' and grandparents' cabinets began to disappear (which is probably a good thing because antique milk glass was made by adding arsenic to standard glass in order to achieve that pearly finish).
Now production is limited to primarily in Japan, where our Fancy Groceries milk glass was made. Skilled artisans there continue to handcraft milk glass mugs using traditional techniques--minus they arsenic, of course, they use tin oxide now--and often replicate antique designs.
Meant for collecting and stacking, you can bet this won't be the only milk glass we make, but we will retire it soon so if you want to collect them all, don't sleep on this one!

...we thought you might want to order this online.
Yup! It's true—99% of our goods are in-store only. A human-to-human shopping experience is at the heart of Fancy Groceries, and we'll never let that go. But lucky you! We'll pack and ship this special item and ship it right to your front door. A worthy exception.
