Dehen 1920

Dehen 1920

Dehen 1920 has been crafting heavyweight American classics in Portland, Oregon, since, well, 1920.

Founded by German immigrant William Peter Dehen, the company began by knitting varsity sweaters for student athletes and later supplied riding sweaters to local motorcycle clubs. By the 1950s, they were handcrafting varsity jackets for lettered athletes, a tradition that continues today.

What sets Dehen apart is their commitment to doing things the hard way: knitting, cutting, and sewing garments under one roof using vintage machines and time-honored techniques. Their products—be it a wool cardigan, a chore coat, or a heavyweight tee—are built to last, often becoming heirloom pieces passed down through generations.

This is apparel with integrity: made slowly, made locally, and made to endure. No shortcuts, no compromises.
